Mid River Vu
Multi-Family & Mixed-Use

Mid River Vu

Located along Miami’s river corridor, Mid River Vu is part the city’s effort to shape the Mid River District into a vibrant, future-oriented neighborhood, blending the city’s industrial past with a walkable, resilient, and community-focused future.

The pillars informing this mixed-use project are contextual sensibility, sustainability, and civic-minded urbanism. Preservation of the site’s mature oak trees is crucial for climate resiliency efforts that help mitigate Miami’s increasingly hot climate, offering a much-needed greenspace for the neighborhood. Additionally, a stormwater raingarden was designed to manage runoff on-site, capturing and slowly releasing rainwater to reduce urban flooding and improve water quality.

At street level, retail and green spaces engage pedestrians and help define the Mid River District as a place for gathering, leisure, and culture. Residential units above are designed with light, air, and views in mind, prioritizing a comfortable and modern living experience.

Mid River Vu’s architectural vocabulary evokes the rhythm and texture of the river itself. The façade comprises custom terracotta elements, a low-carbon alternative to concrete and chosen for its durability as well as aesthetic qualities. The flowing vertical and horizontal articulation of the façade emulate the historic rapids, long since tamed but not forgotten. This cladding approach builds upon research into sustainable, hurricane-resistant solutions for coastal cities. A sculptural water wall at the entrance serves as both a cooling element and symbolic gesture to the neighborhood identity.
