Pink Sands Resort
The master plan for Pink Sands Resort in Harbour Island, Bahamas included designs for a series of estate homes, beachfront cottages, and common areas. The architecture for these residences drew from local Bahamian inspiration, incorporating large verandas, colorful facades, and shuttered fenestrations—all catering to a tropical vernacular.
Although the architecture recalls traditional Bahamian influences, the resort is still equipped to meet contemporary needs, offering residents the comfort and luxury of more modern living spaces. The hilltop villas reflect the surrounding lush greenery with intricate foliage patterns while beachfront villas echo coral formations on the pink sandy beaches. The cottages provide spacious and comfortable retreats for guests, while the estates sit large, exalting the tropical landscape and views of Dumore Town and the ocean.
Sustainable materials and resilient design solutions were integral to Pink Sands’ planning, ensuring its adherence to LEED qualifications. The cottages are equipped to collect rainwater and cross-ventilation makes use of the natural breezes to offer passive cooling. Locally sourced coral rock and wood provide sustainable and climate-specific materials.
