ArchNative | Interview

ArchNative sat down with Jacqueline to discuss her journey as an architect: the impact of her education on her career, the challenges and rewards of having her own firm, and what advice she has for budding new architects.

Jacqueline Gonzalez Touzet

As part of ArchNative's "#WomenWhoBuild" series, Jacqueline's interview explores how her background as an artist eventually led her on her path towards architecture, where she could use her artistic sensibilities to transform the built landscape around her in service to her community. After some time working as an architect in Miami, Jacqueline and her husband, Carlos, struck out on their own, founding what is now Touzet Studio in Miami's Little Havana. The decision to start their own firm wasn't without challenges but, for Jacqueline, the benefits of maintaining creative direction and pursing projects aligned with her dedication to eco-conscious architecture have been well worth the effort. Apart from creating award-winning architectural designs, Jacqueline is committed to sharing her knowledge with the next generation of architects, helping to support them as they develop their architectural craft to design buildings that are both climate and people-focused.
