3711 Design District

This building acts as a gateway to Miami’s Design District, interacting with pedestrians at street level and with vehicles on the elevated highway. The project’s location inspired the building’s design: a structure that behaves as a three-dimensional canvas, capable of delivering unique experiences depending on the time of day or night.

The floating bar façade across the top of the structure anchors the viewer’s sense of perspective. The interplay of the floating bar element and the simple massing allows the building to assume different personalities through the play of concrete and light. The building’s base is dark and rounded contrasting with the sleekness of the rectilinear shape above. Meanwhile, the exterior uses embossed metal and glass surfaces to add texture and interest to the pedestrian experience.

A paved urban courtyard, designed by landscape architect JEFRE, takes visitors to a rooftop garden with views of downtown Miami, Biscayne Bay, and the ocean. 3711 Design District is designed to be an exceptional venue for events both on the rooftop and at street level.
