ACAW 2024 Prototype Presentation
This year’s Architectural Ceramic Assemblies Workshop ran from August 12-15, 2024, with team prototype presentations taking place on the final day during the Symposium. The presentations share design studies 10 months in the making, from 8 architectural firms who have developed terra cotta solutions to address how the built environment can mitigate the effects of climate change, explore construction efficiencies, and include biophilic design.
Alongside Thornton Tomasetti, we focused on a potential parking garage project and designed a Water Wall assembly comprised of 3 extrusions. When water falls upon our prototype it creates a rain dance as the water streams down into planters at the bottom. The light-colored terra cotta cladding solution could be used at-scale on new projects after further exploration—watch the team's presentation here!
